ager Mauricio Pochettino felt the goalless draw with Manchester United was a fair reflection on the balance of play.
Hugo Lloris and David De Gea both made plenty of saves in a competitive match that saw many chances.
Manchester
United manager Louis Van Gaal claimed that the quality dipped in the
second half because players were tired, but the Spurs boss had several
positives to take away from the game.
"The second half was very good and we played better than United but at the end, after 90 minutes, I think the result was fair," Football411 quotes Pochettino as saying.
"The
most important thing is the feeling we got from the performance. The
point is good but I think it’s better to get that feeling from today
because the team had a very good performance.
"The idea was to
believe in our skill and get the three points but we showed that we were
solid. We made a big effort and for that, congratulations to the
players. We need to keep this feeling and this momentum because we have a
lot of games ahead and the next game is tough."
Spurs take on
Chelsea on New Year's Day in the Premier League, and Pochettino will be
hoping that their showing against United gives them confidence for the
game against the league leaders.
