Some people want India to become like Pakistan: Former Mumbai top cop Julio Ribiero on attacks on Christians across the country

Image result for PakistanJulio Ribiero, former CP of Mumbai, on Monday said some people, who are attacking minorities, want the country to become like Pakistan.

"Why some people in the country want is to become like Pakistan, why are minorities being attacked! Those who are attacking minorities are doing disservice to the nation," Ribiero said while speaking to Headlines Today about the recent attacks on Christians, including the one on convent in West Bengal, in which a nun was gangraped, and destruction of an under-construction church in Hisar district of Haryana.
A retired IPS officer, Ribiero was Mumbai police commissioner, DGP Gujarat and DGP Punjab, and is also former Indian ambassador to Romania.
According to him, conversions don't happen the way they are been propagated. "I don't see any mass-conversion. Conversions don't happen the way they are been propagated. How can anyone ban conversion, it's a personal choice. The government should concentrate on jobs, development rather than focusing on ghar wapasi and Love Jihad," the former CP of Mumbai said.

"I don't think that Mother Teresa was here to convert people. She might have been happy to see people converting to Christianity, but that was not her aim," he said.
According to Ribiero, the common man of the country doesn't get affected by communal agenda. "A normal Indian is not going to get swayed by any communal agenda, problem arises when it becomes a mob. Always remember, a majority mob is always more dangerous than minority mob," he said, adding that certainly something is being done which is making Christian community nervous in the country.
