Memphis Depay gets wish to wear iconic Manchester United No 7 shirt... but does vacant No 9 mean a new striker is arriving?

New Manchester United signing Memphis Depay has been granted his wish to wear the club’s fabled No 7 shirt this season after the club's squad numbers were released.
Manchester United have released all details of their squad's shirt numbers ahead of Premier League openerThe young forward had volunteered to take over the iconic jersey made famous by George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo after it was left vacant by the departure of Angel di Maria to PSG.
The Old Trafford club released details of all players' squad numbers ahead of their opening Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday - although the No 9 shirt vacated by Radamel Falcao is still vacant, suggesting a new striker could be on his way.

*You could wear any shirt up until 1993-94 season when squad numbers were introduced. Prior to then Manchester United club legends such as George Best and Bryan Robson wore the No 7 shirt with great distinction.
During the Red Devils' pre-season tour of the USA, Depay wore the No 9 shirt.
Among other changes are Luke Shaw switching from No 3 to No 23 ( a number made popular by Michael Jordan and David Beckham), Marouane Fellaini trading No 31 for No 27 and James Wilson choosing No 19 instead of No 49.
New keeper Sergio Romero, who could make his debut against Spurs, has taken over the No 20 shirt left by Robin van Persie. 
And, United's other summer signings, Bastian Schweinsteiger has taken No 31, Morgan Schneiderlin will wear No 28 and Matteo Darmian has taken No 36. 
Despite the iconic No 7 shirt's illustrious history, Depay will hope to break the curse of recent flopsat Old Trafford wearing the shirt.
