Vote for August's Player of the Month

Matteo Darmian, Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling are the nominees for Manchester United's Player of
the Month award for August.

The three defenders have been selected, reflecting the excellent opening to the 2015/16 season in this area, with each of them starting all six games.

Summer recruit Darmian has made a positive impact and was voted Man of the Match on his debut against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford. The Italian right-back has been solid and assured, instantly adapting to life in the Barclays Premier League.

Fellow full-back Shaw was rewarded for his superb form with an England recall and has been dynamic in defence and attack. Outstanding in both Champions League ties with Club Brugge, he was also one of United's best performers in the defeat at Swansea City last time out.

Smalling has looked the part all season and been dominant at the heart of the back four. His commanding display in the home win over Brugge was a stand-out display and he also kept Spurs' Harry Kane in check. Flawless at Aston Villa, he was unlucky not to emerge as the hero against Newcastle United when his late header came back off a post.
