Team Ratings

Barcelona

  • C. Bravo 13 C. Bravo The keeper was not heavily involved but seemed to be lacking communication with his defence on crosses.
  • Jordi Alba 18 Jordi Alba A very energetic performance from the left-back as he made numerous overlapping runs to assist in attack.
  • Piqué 3 Piqué Had a comfortable time at the back and dealt well with crosses into the box, also netting from close range.
  • J. Mathieu 24 J. Mathieu The Frenchman put in a measured performance but lost concentration as Bueno got in behind to win the penalty.
  • Dani Alves 22 Dani Alves Dealt capably with Lica but brought down Bueno for the penalty which resulted in his dismissal.
  • J. Mascherano 14 J. Mascherano Screened the defence effectively, closing the opposition quickly and distributing the ball.
  • Iniesta 8 Iniesta His dribbling caused Rayo many problems and he drew fouls to win free kicks around the box.
  • Xavi 6 Xavi Assisted the opening goal and created numerous chances with his quality passing in midfield.
  • Pedro 7 Pedro Got into some great advanced areas but lacked a clinical edge, though he did assist Messi's third.
  • L. Suárez 9 L. Suárez Opened the scoring with a great finish before winning the penalty, which Messi converted, and netting another late on.
  • L. Messi 10 L. Messi After a quiet first half he really came into the game after the interval, netting a hat-trick and assisting Suarez for his second.

Rayo Vallecano

  • C. Álvarez 13 C. Álvarez Operated effectively as a sweeper keeper, and, although he had six put past him, it could have been more had he not made so many saves.
  • Antonio Amaya 4 Antonio Amaya Defended high and lacked the pace to stop Barca getting in around the back. Was unaware of Messi as he scored his second.
  • E. Insúa 14 E. Insúa Tried to get forward when he could but defended poorly on the left side of the back four.
  • Tito 2 Tito Played Suarez onside on the opening goal and was dismissed after conceding the penalty which Messi converted.
  • A. Ba 15 A. Ba Looked coltish in the centre of defence and struggled to deal with Suarez's movement, particularly on his second.
  • G. Kakuta 12 G. Kakuta Stuck out wide on the right and initiated the move which resulted in the penalty.
  • Roberto Trashorras 10 Roberto Trashorras Went close with a couple of efforts on goal in a solid outing from the former Barca man.
  • Jozabed 21 Jozabed Passed well in midfield and attempted to push on and support the forwards.
  • Licá 22 Licá Hugged the left flank but didn't see much of the ball, though when he did he was calm and often found a team-mate.
  • Bueno 23 Bueno Operated in behind Leo Baptistao but worked hard and won the penalty which he subsequently converted.
  • Léo Baptistão 19 Léo Baptistão Worked hard to try and make himself available up top, but, although he had a role in winning the penalty, he didn't test Bravo.
